Tuesday 31 July: Britney's divorce is finalised
When we first saw this picture, we were mildly concerned that Britney Spears was preparing to stage a bank raid. Then we figured she was probably on her way to one of those Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle parties (they're all the rage in Hollywood, you know). But now it turns out she was just wrapping a scarf around her forehead and mouth in an apparent bid to disguise herself from the paparazzi during a night out clubbing in Los Angeles. Only problem was... the paps were all snapping away outside her car at the time, so the ploy didn't really work.
Still, yesterday was notable for another reason for Britney: her divorce from Kevin Federline was finalised in the Los Angeles Superior Court. The couple's lawyer's wouldn't comment on the financial settlement - but, for now at least, the pair continue to share custody of their two sons. "I think she's OK with the terms," Britney's lawyer Laura Wasser told the press pack outside the court. "I think both of them would prefer to have more custody, and that can be worked out down the line."
The court also granted Britney's legal team's request to seal the child custody agreement, rather than make the finer details public, in the interests of the children's safety. There had been concerns that the information could leave little Sean Preston and Jayden James at risk of kidnap attempts. A full hearing on the matter has now been set for 14 August.
But in the meantime, of course, yesterday's events mean Britney is officially single again. Hmmm... we wonder what odds we can get on her remarrying before the year is out?
